PEDERASTY AND HOMOSEXUALITY IN THE MONASTERY OF MONTSERRAT

1. The Monastery of Montserrat suffered an acute and very worrying homosexuality crisis during the abbotship of Cassià M. Just and which represented the direct interventor of the Holy See in the abbotship of Josep M. Soler.
2. The crimes of pedophilia were attempted to be resolved twice. But the internal struggle between gays and anti-gays did not obtain the resolution and the arrangement that the Holy See expected.
3. The election of Abbot Soler suffered from this problem. Monks such as Evangelista Villanova and Hilari Raguer revealed and suffered the problem of the tensions between the gay and anti-gay sectors of the monastery. It is a problem that has not been resolved until 2021.
4. The Manel Gasch abbotship seems to have dealt with the problem very well. The changes in the monastic staff and the various new responsibilities must now also prove their worth to be effective.
